91-Year-Old Driver Kills 74-Year-Old Pedestrian at Post Office

Los Angeles:  On Monday, December 15, 2014, around 9:56 a.m., an elderly driver accidently ran over two pedestrians, killing one and causing the other to be hospitalized with severe injuries.

The 91 year-old driver in a 1987 Mitsubishi Montero was backing up her vehicle in the 3800 block of Grand View Boulevard when she struck the two pedestrians.  One pedestrian, a 74 year-old female resident of Los Angeles, died at the scene.  The other pedestrian, an 83 year-old male resident of Los Angeles, was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries.  The driver was interviewed by officers and after drugs and alcohol were determined not to be a factor, she was released from the scene.

Anyone with information about this incident, or for more information, is asked to call West Traffic Division Detectives at (213) 473-0234.  During non-business hours or on the weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247).  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on “webtips” and follow the prompts.
